Oswegatchie River - Heuvelton

The north end of Black Lake and the Oswegatchie River above and below the hydroeletric dam in Heuvelton offer as fine a fishing outing as more popular areas. Boat launchs are available downriver of the dam in Heuvelton and at Eel Weir state Park. The Oswegatchie River and Black Lake flow together at Eel Weir. Canoe access is possible above the dam where the river runs alongside the Rensselaer Falls Road. - (County Route 15)

The river above the dam in Heuvelton is a productive area in the spring for Bullhead. The east side of the Oswegatchie River offers easy access as the road runs alongside of the river on the way to Rensselaer Falls from Heuvelton.
