A small cup shaped fungus that stains wood a blue - green color. The stain is more often seen than the actual fungus.
Blue Stain Fungus - Chlorociboria aeruginascens
This fungus grows on decaying hardwoods mainly in the fall but is not limited to that season. These were found growing on a rotten log in Stone Valley, Colton, NY. - Sept. 16, 2008

Edible?: considered too small to bother and it's rarity makes it even harder to get a bite on these. No information was found about it being poisonous so I recommend not tasting it.
