Blue Stain Fungus - Chlorociboria aeruginascens
Chlorociboria aeruginascens Identified Mushrooms
Sized 1024 x 768 the more 'artistic' pics make nice desktop backgrounds |
A small cup shaped fungus that stains wood a blue - green color. The stain is more often seen than the actual fungus.
This fungus grows on decaying hardwoods mainly in the fall but is not limited to that season. These were found growing on a rotten log in Stone Valley, Colton, NY. - Sept. 16, 2008 Edible?: considered too small to bother and it's rarity makes it even harder to get a bite on these. No information was found about it being poisonous so I recommend not tasting it.
