Woodland Wildflower

In St. Lawrence county, NY you need to go to the Adirondack foothills to find Starflowers. They grow at higher elevations up to sub-alpine conditions. These were found in the Town of Colton near Higley Flow State Park.

Note that there are two flowers on each plant. Flowers consist of 6 - 7 petals on fine stalks that rise above a whorl of 5 - 9 leaves.
Requirements:

Soil Type - cool woods sandy to peaty
Soil ph - Neutral, slightly acidic
Water - moist/dry
Light - shade

Height Average - 4 - 9 inches
Time of bloom - May - June
